Session Info
What should I wear?
Great question! I want you to be comfortable during your session and since we will more than likely be doing a variety of poses I’d suggest avoiding restrictive clothing. Opt for classic, comfortable pieces accented by accessories that showcase your own personal sense of style.
As Stacey London would say, “It doesn’t have to match, just go!” Meaning, if white shirts and jeans are your thing, try switching up the white top for lighter colored top instead, or incorporating subtle patterns like plaid and seersucker. Both are classics that will ensure your portraits are beautiful and timeless.
If you need more help visualizing what I mean check out J.Crew, Gap, and Old Navy for more inspiration.
How do I pay for my session?
I am happy to accept cash, check or credit card payments in the form of PayPal. For more information on payment polices please check out my Investment page
What can I expect during our session with Whitney Pointe Photography?
You can expect a fun time! There’ll probably be a lot of gentle direction, suggestions, laughter and a wee bit of bribery in the form of sweet treats (with mom and dad’s permission of course J )if the kiddos are involved I am there to capture you as, your are naturally whether that be in your home, a birthday party, or outside enjoying nature. I assure you that as long as you arrive with a positive and willing attitude you won’t be disappointed with the results.
Newborn Sessions: A typical newborn session will take 2-3 hours and takes places at your home. Don’t worry if the dishes aren’t done, or you haven’t dusted in a month. Relax! You just had a squishy beautiful baby and I understand that rotating your mattress isn’t at the forefront of your mind. That’s why I bring everything necessary for the shoot (props, blankets, wipes, space heater, baskets, etc) and you provide the baby.
Family Sessions: This is a great time for you and yours to reconnect. My goal is to tell the story of your family in pictures. I encourage you to think outside the box for locations that have meaning. If you need help, I would be more than happy to suggest a location. The most important consideration when scheduling a family session is to ensure your clothing is cohesive. See above for more info on what to wear.
I encourage you to “be you” and but some posing and general direction should be expected. I will also try and do combination shoots of different family members. For example: mommy + daddy, just mom, mommy+kiddo.
What is the best time to schedule my session?
Since I only use natural light, session time is very important. I normally will suggest times near the “golden hour” of sunset. This will provide the most flattering light for your shoot. This is not to say shoots scheduled during different times during the day will not yield great portraits. I will implore a number of photography tricks to ensure that you love your finished product.
Do you retouch my photos?
Minor retouching is done to all photos before releasing them to you. If more extensive retouching is needed it will be done at a nominal fee.
